My Take

The verdict

I think Caribbean Beach is one of the best moderate resorts for families with kids 6 to 12 who want easier EPCOT and Hollywood Studios trips without paying deluxe prices. The big tradeoff is the layout. This resort can feel extremely convenient or pretty inconvenient depending on where your room is and what you need to get to.

Best for

This is a strong fit for families who plan to spend a lot of time in the parks, especially EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, and want good kid amenities without feeling like they have to keep the whole trip polished and quiet.

Skip if

I would be careful here if anyone in your group has mobility issues or if you expect to eat at the hotel a lot. The resort is spread out, and there is no continuous covered path between the rooms and the main dining areas, so if the weather turns bad, you can end up soaking wet, and so can your food.

Why it worked

When I stayed at Caribbean Beach, our room was about as close to the Skyliner as it could be. We only had to walk about 100 feet to get in line, which was fantastic on park mornings. The flip side was that almost anything besides a quick coffee and muffin felt far away. The only reason coffee was easy was because the Joffrey's stand right by the Skyliner station saved us.

Pause points

The main thing that would give me pause is how often the layout can work against you. The Skyliner and the main dining area are basically on opposite ends of the resort, so your room location can quietly shape the whole trip. If you are making repeated food runs or dealing with bad weather, that starts to matter fast.

Still worth it?

Even with that tradeoff, Caribbean Beach felt worth it to me. The combination of the Skyliner, the excellent kids splash area, the decent price, and the overall atmosphere made it work. I also really liked the resort at night. Even the long walks felt calmer because I was crossing the bridges over the lake and passing the outdoor Disney movie area, which gave the place a nostalgic, relaxed feel.

Pros

  • Disney Skyliner access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios
  • Excellent kids splash area at the shipwreck play zone
  • Good value for a moderate resort, especially for families spending most days in the parks
  • Relaxed, nostalgic atmosphere at night — bridges over Barefoot Bay and an outdoor Disney movie area
  • Strong fit for families with kids 6–12

Cons

  • Very spread-out layout — room location quietly shapes the whole trip, and there is no continuous covered path between rooms and main dining, so food runs get soaked in bad weather
  • Main dining is on the opposite end of the resort from the Skyliner, turning food runs into long walks
  • Bus-only access to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom
  • Challenging for guests with mobility issues given the distances between rooms, dining, and the Skyliner

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you get from Caribbean Beach to the theme parks?

Caribbean Beach is the Skyliner hub, which is the main reason people book it. You get direct gondola access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios without starting your day on a bus, while Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Disney Springs are still bus trips. If those Skyliner parks are your priority, Caribbean Beach has one of the better transportation setups in the moderate tier.

What dining options are at Caribbean Beach?

Dining is fine here, but it usually is not the reason to stay. Sebastian's Bistro is the main sit-down option, Centertown Market handles most quick meals, Spyglass Grill is handy if you are near Trinidad, and Banana Cabana works well for poolside drinks. Most guests can make it work, but plenty still end up eating in EPCOT, Disney Springs, or another resort.

What pool and recreation amenities does Caribbean Beach have?

The main pool at Old Port Royale has a waterslide and a shipwreck-themed play area for kids. There are also quiet pools spread around the villages. Beyond the water features, Caribbean Beach has an arcade, a playground, volleyball courts, a marina, fishing around Barefoot Bay, and a running trail around the lake. Because the resort is so spread out, many guests end up using the pool closest to their room most often.

Does Caribbean Beach have Extended Evening Theme Park Hours?

No. Caribbean Beach is a moderate resort, so you get the standard 30-minute Early Entry benefit but not Extended Evening Theme Park Hours. If late-night deluxe perks matter to you, this is not the resort for that strategy.

Is Caribbean Beach a good fit for families with young kids?

Caribbean Beach is a strong moderate pick for families, mostly because of the Skyliner. Kids usually love the gondola ride, and it is easier than folding a stroller for a bus every time. The shipwreck play area and playground help too. The trade-off is the layout: this is a big resort, and the walk from some villages to Old Port Royale or the Skyliner can feel long with tired kids.

What are the biggest drawbacks of staying at Caribbean Beach?

The biggest drawback is the footprint: some rooms are a long walk from the Skyliner, the main pool, and dining at Old Port Royale. Dining is serviceable but rarely a standout, and you are still bus-only to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. If you are comparing it with Pop Century or Art of Animation, a lot of the moderate-tier upcharge goes toward a bigger room and a quieter overall feel rather than dramatically better transportation or food.
